LICENSE RENEWAL

The Iowa Board of Nursing is no longer mailing notices to Registered Nurses licensees that their license renewal is due. Registered nurses can either register on-line or contact the Iowa Board of Nursing for a paper form. Online renewal is not yet available for ARNPs and for RNs who wish to request inactive status.Nurse practitioners will continue to receive written notice by mail from the Iowa Board of Nursing that their Registered Nursing license and ARNP certification is due.

On-Line License Verification

On-line license verification is available on the Iowa Board of Nursing website. RNs and ARNPs can enter a license number or SSN and retrieve Iowa licensure status information.

Request Paper Form and Telephone Verification

Another option is to contact the Iowa Board of Nursing, preferably in writing, and request that a renewal form be mailed to you. The address is: Iowa Board of Nursing, RiverPoint Business Park, 400 S.W. 8th Street, Suite B, Des Moines, Iowa 50309-4685. Licensees could call the telephone verification system at 515-281-3255 to verify licensure status by license number or SSN and retrieve information about license renewal, reinstatement or reactivation.
